I think that Soup in a Bun is quite unique actually. I live in Canada at the moment, and have definitely never seen it. I've never encountered one in a Quizno's either. Even if Quizno's or some other restaurant type place serves them, it's not the same as something that is being sold in a grocery store. His soup looked nice too. Hog and Apple pie seemed similar to what I've seen in every grocery store that I've been to in Britain, not so much in Canada, but his was over-packaged (not that the bun wasn't). The Quinoa thing is quite cool, it reminded me of those Seven Grain Salads which seem to be popular. Maybe I've invested too much thinking into this haha, it was pretty crap television.

Soup in a bun went into about 340 Tesco stores out of over 2000 stores.

Tesco put it in a huge bag on a bottom shelf. The bag was plastic with a paper label stuck on it (using non bio degradable glue), with another plastic carton inside with the bread in another plastic flow wrap.

They cut all the advice the designers gave about using biodegradable or recycled packaging on the program to turn it into some sort of 'greenwash' for Tesco who ended up creating the most unenvironmentally friendly over packaged product in history.

Because the bag was so large, and because it was hidden away on the bottom shelf they had to fold the top over so you coulont even read the label.

Tesco no longer stock the product.

The program was not fixed in any way. All the suppliers worked very hard once the vote came though to get the product to shelf. No-one knew who won before.

as far as I am aware, all suppliers worked on the program for free and were never paid by Tesco.

The soup was actually really delicious. Nick Smallwood sells it at Farmers markets in and around Hampshire. Best of luck to him!

I have an intense dislike for Tesco!

MOT - Yes, but people are idiots and don't maintain things themselves so they need the state to force them to. With salt on the roads it is even more prudent to have this testing. I did not face this testing in Australia either, but it makes sense even if it is immensly annoying.

The only other useful function I can think of for it is that it encourages fleet owners to keep their cars up to date (MOT is not required for the first 3 years), which should keep emissions down as they have more efficient late model cars. Oh and it give us plebs a supply of cheap, but near new, second hand models people can't be bothered to MOT.

Presuming that the series has been finished a while, does anyone know whether or not Soup in a bun actually managed to stay on the shelves?
