We just got a fake Le Creuset dutch oven from Ikea. It’s called the ‘Senior’. Mine’s not the horrible avocado colour you see below, it’s more of a horrid robin egg blue instead.
It kicks ass. We’ve made a meal in it every week since we brought it home (3 weeks ago). I wish I could make everything in it. Good ol’ Ikea. Having lived in France and been so stupid as to not pick up a Le Creuset dutch oven for cheap whilst there, this ain’t too shabby a pot.
Tonight’s experiment will be a bastardized Indian curry. Gonna sweat some onions, throw in some spices — garam masala, cumin seeds, tumeric, etc. — to cook and some chicken breast. Add some garden peas, okra, tomatoes and spinach. Might go the lazy option and add a premade sauce as I don’t think we have any coconut milk on hand. Basmati rice cooked with coconut and peas on the side and some naan.
